Fun challenge chasing this FKT. Anna had put down a strong time to beat!! I had never been on this trail before, but it was lovely. Left at 5:26am, which was perfect for temperature.
The first 4 miles are the prettiest, but they also have a few obstacles that are annoying when trying to go fast. I thought I might have fallen back too much during that to catch up. But I had also packed for 46 miles (because I had to go both ways), and I realized by pack was going to be too heavy for me to catch Anna's time.. so I stopped and ditched my sandwich at mile 2 and squeezed out some of my water-- that was future Brittany's problem! After mile 4, it's relatively cruisy (though def some rocky stretches). Kept it steady and was thrilled to shave off a few minutes from the record.
(Then I had to turn around and make the long slog all the way back to my car...)
