This has been on my mind for a while, and with no races on the horizon I thought it was the perfect opportunity to do it. I have ran all parts of the route in the past, but never all in one go. Being so local and where a lot of my training happens, it was awesome to do the whole thing.
I carried all my own fuel, but I did have some friends running with me at different points of the race, Richard Strachan doing the marathon distance from Ballater to Banchory and then joined by Fraser Gormley and his twins in the double buggy for a stretch from Drumoak to Milltimber and Stewart Maxwell from Peterculter to Duthie Park. My coach Fraser Clyne also came alongside for the last mile or so on his bike.
Overall a perfect day for running, it was below zero degrees Celsius the entire run, but blue skies and sunshine. Having never ran further than marathon distance before, I felt really comfortable through about 29 miles, but the remaining miles were a lot tougher, but overall happy with my time.
