More challenging route and terrain than I thought it was going to be, thankfully lots of forest and rivers, so was easy to replenish with water filter. Carried a running sack with two 600 ml water, then a bottle with filter in bag, enough food fot whole run, toiletries, small med kit.
First marathon was on good trails and cycle paths, had just run Manchester marathon last week so thankfully it wasn’t too bad mentally or physically.
After, the terrain got a lot harder, dipping into a valley in the national park with thick roots and trees. Lots of elevation climbing on bit.
Zip on back of my bag broke at the this point, thankfully had a dry bag so could attach it to the hanger on the bag.
For the next part the sun came out and it was hard on the open area but it had been cloudy before so nice in a way.
I had to walk the rest of it as was too tired and legs hurt too much, ended up having to use headlamp and phone map until 1 am to get to the summit.
A lovely but tough route.
