This was a lot harder than anticipated. The route WANDERS through parks. Despite living here and running these parks for years, navigation was challenging. On and off rain, muddy trails (slipped on my butt once), and a head wind for miles 20-28 along Lake Washington added to challenges.
But getting to explore the city and parks through a different lense was fun. Was able to manage hydration and fuel will just a single running backpack with a 70oz bladder. Route does a great job of taking you past public bathrooms in the parks.
At this distance you probably don’t need to stop for food (I didn’t), but there is a Starbucks and local grocer in Leschi around mile 18.
Also noticed the official route is just shy of 50k. I ran around the block at the end to officially make it my first ultra, first 50k, and firat FKT attempt.
