The Liberty Loop Full Perimeter is a rugged and varied 75 km route that showcases the wild side of Kejimkujik National Park. The terrain changes dramatically throughout the course, making preparation just as important as fitness.

The route can be divided into four distinct sections:

0–10 km: Fast ATV trails with good footing, allowing for a steady start.

10–32 km: The most challenging part of the route. Expect narrow singletrack, overgrown vegetation, frequent bushwhacking, and numerous bogs where you'll sink up to your knees. Progress is slow, and staying on the trail requires constant attention.

32–58 km: ATV trails return, offering more runnable terrain after the technical middle section.

58–73 km: Mostly gravel and paved roads, providing a fast finish once you're out of the backcountry.

For the overgrown section, we changed into lightweight pants to protect against poison ivy and reduce exposure to ticks. It was well worth carrying the extra layer, as vegetation often closed in completely around the trail.

One of the advantages of this route is the abundance of water sources. We carried filtering water bottles, making it easy to refill throughout the day without having to carry excessive water from the start.

This route offers a true backcountry adventure with everything from fast forest roads to slow, technical bushwhacking. Anyone attempting it should be comfortable navigating remote terrain, managing wet conditions, and adapting to constantly changing trail surfaces.
