I ran the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Saturday, October 22, 2020 beginning at the visitor center in Munising, MI and finishing at the Grand Sable visitor center in Grand Marais, MI. My attempt was unsupported, beginning at 0758 EST. I carried all my water and food in a running vest and filtered water once at the Beaver Creek bridge. My husband, Rob, captured the attached picture of me starting my watch at the beginning, and the finishing video and picture in Grand Marais. The trail was beautiful with all the foliage adding an extra element. I stopped once to take the lakeshore picture attached and the trail picture somehow managed while moving. It was really hard to not stop to take in more of the views, but knew I didn't have much wiggle room for lolly-gagging. The first half went relatively well with more technical and muddy miles than I remembered, the second half didn't go as well as planned, but kept putting one foot in front of the other to the end. It was 50 degrees at the start, 18 mph winds, which I felt along the lakeshore segments. Beautiful day to be on the trail enjoying a fantastic experience! Can't wait to see it again!
