I did the Chisos Escalada route on Friday, January 29 unsupported, running with my buddy Conor McEvily. Temps were 40s-70s with some cloud; if it had been much warmer I would have needed a re-supply of water at the Chisos Basin Store. This is the best mountain run I’ve ever done with amazing vistas and a variety of terrain going from the Chihuahua Desert transition zone up to Emory Peak. The trails were way more runnable than I expected. We got in some bonus mileage/time by inadvertently scrambling up to the "wrong" peak (a subsidiary to the south of Emory Peak) at first and wandering a bit up and down sections of the trail to take photos. It was just so sublime. This is absolutely a bucket list run + hike + scramble. Big thanks to the runner who put this link-up on the map!
