I woke up at 4:30AM to prep for what turned out to be a very fun, but long day!
Started my day with dropping my bike off at the end of the section and proceeding with driving to the start (Jamieson is a long multi-day adventure 🤩).
I parked at a winery and jogged 1km to begin. Started the FKT at 8AM.
The weather was impeccable!! It was great to wear shorts and a t-shirt. I carried everything from the start to the finish and gathered water along the way. I was grateful for a lot of water sources. This was my first big attempt in the heat.
The Hockley Valley Hills KICKED MY BUTT!! I forgot my poles in my car and could have really used them in this relentlessly hilly section.
Overall I felt great! I don't regret pushing up this effort 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Now time to recover a little before the next.
section 1: Niagara (79km) ✅
section 2: Iroquoia (114km) ✅
section 3: Toronto (50km) ✅
section 4: Caledon (70km) ✅
PS. The bike ride back to the my car was 41km (2hrs). I was glad my car was still there!! I got home at after 10:30pm, absolutely starving!!

Project 9: I've always wanted to do the Bruce Trail again, since my supported effort in 2017. Unfortunately, at this time, circumstances will not allow this to occur. This is the absolute best next thing. My goal is to earn unsupported FKTs on all 9 Bruce Trail sections in 2023. Distances range from 50km-106 miles. It won't be easy, but I'm super motivated to give it my all!!
