Carrying a hand-held bottle of water, I started at the trailhead marked by the first blue blaze on a tree near the parking lot and ran the "stick" section
to the beginning of the loop. At the junction, I turned right to start my first loop in the counter-clockwise direction. It was foggy and around 71 degrees F,
89% humidity at the start, with the temperature rising and the Sun burning off the fog. The heat would be worse later in the day, so it was good to get started
somewhat early in the morning. As it was, I was soaked in sweat, and sweat was dripping off the bill of my cap twenty minutes into the run.
The trail was in good shape; there wasn't much mud, and the rocks were dry for good traction. I passed by seven hikers and two dogs on my run.
After the climb and descent of the first loop, I ran out on the "stick" section to the trailhead, turned around, and ran back to the start of loop,
this time turning left at the junction to go clockwise for the second loop. Completing the second loop, I returned out on the "stick" section to the
trailhead and stopped my watch.
