Ran the Sawback Trail between Lake Louise and Norquay.
Saw a YouTube video of a couple people that did this in a day many years ago and wanted to try it myself. Majority of trail very runnable.
Ran with my Sawyer water filter and refilled at Luellen Lake, the Larry’s Camp junction and at Mystic Valley Camp.
I ran the first 35 km solo. My friend, Rob McDougall, hiked in from Johnston Canyon and waited for me at Luellen Lake and ran the rest with me. My girlfriend, Chloe Onofrychuk, and my friend, Jenessa Wulff, hiked in from Cory Pass and met us for the final 20 kms. No one brought me any extra supplies, but they did run with me once meeting up.
Did the optional side trip to Luellen Lake to meet up with Rob, and scope out the lake for future camping trips, and also optional side trip to Mystic Lake just to take in the mystical powers.
Was very generous with my snack breaks. Focused on finishing over speed. Would like to try this again next year completely unsupported, and with fewer stops along the way.
