This was a supported FKT completed on October 10, 2020. Total distance was 59.98 miles and the duration was 10 hours and 53 minutes. Started at 7:23AM and finished at 6:16PM.
This route includes all of the main spurs of the Illinois Prairie Path, from Maywood to Wheaton; then branching to Elgin and Aurora, with the additional spurs to Geneva and Batavia, per the trail map included in this link: https://ipp.org/trail-map/. (Main Branch, Aurora Branch, Elgin Branch, Batavia Spur, Geneva Spur) This route varies from other Illinois Prairie Path FKTs because of the addition of the Batavia and Geneva Spurs. The path is primarily crushed limestone.
Since the trail splits 3 times, I had to be picked up and dropped off by car 3 different times. Running and driving was as follows:
1) Run the Main Branch from Maywood to Wheaton
2) Run the Aurora Branch from Wheaton to Aurora
3) Driven from Aurora back to Naperville
4) Run the Batavia Spur from Naperville to Batavia
5) Driven from Batavia to Geneva
6) Run the Geneva Spur from Geneva to Wheaton
7) Driven from Wheaton to Winfield
8) Run the Elgin Branch from Winfield to finish in Elgin
I saved each running leg of this route individually and uploaded to Strava. I also had the Strava Beacon running for the duration of the FKT, including driving time. I had several family members and friends running, biking and crewing for me during this run.
