On Saturday, August 17, 2024, Wim Van de Moortel and Chris Van Haevere, 2 Belgians, ran 'Het Heerlijk Pauwelspad'.
We left at 6:15 am at the gate of 'Het Witte Kasteel' in Loon op Zand in the Netherlands.
At the beginning of the route, there were small paths and asphalt lanes. The first 20k it was easy to run. Then we followed the river 'Zandleij' and the vegetation became increasingly dense and running was impossible in some places. It only became really fun when we arrived at 'De Brand'. It is a very beautiful but very wet nature reserve. We passed by on a dry summer day (approx. 20 degrees in the morning) but still sank quite deep into the swamp with our shoes.
Immediately after 'De Brand' you arrive in 'De Loonse en Drunense Duinen', a sandy nature reserve, which is in contrast to the wet paths from before. You can enjoy wide views.
'Het Heerlijk Pauwelspad' is an absolute must for those who love varied landscapes and for those who don't mind getting their feet wet.
