Arrived by train from Munich 7:54am for a relaxed 8am start.
Only stopped at the summits and Weilheimer hut for a quick selfie (plus at one traffic light at Garmisch which cost 1 min ;) )
Took one of the more direct routes, not always on trails, which helped to get down the distance to ~49km but increased the altitude change a bit (3800 m up, 3900 m down). Also included one technical section down Kistenkar which I would recommend to first recce by going the other direction (from Eschenlohe up), as the trail is very steep and hard to find, especially on the way down.
Filled up water only at 3 spots: Urlaine, a small river near Eschenlohe, A small fountain near a hut on the way up Heimgarten, and a small river again on the way down Heimgarten. Day started off quite cold (~5-6 deg C up there), so I didn't need much water for the first half. Got very sunny and warmer later on, so a bit more needed - overall drank ~3-4 liters (plus 1.5 on arrival in Kochel).
Ate just 2 bars I had with me
Overall probably close to the perfect day to run this one - just the trails around from Hoher Fricken to Weilheimer Hut were very muddy (and I didn't have great shoes for mud - Salomon pulsar)
