Supported by Jay Mann and Willow Cleary in aid of the Rainbow Centre in Bentota Sri Lanka.

I set off from Point Pedro, the northern most point of Sri Lanka on 30 Nov 2023 with Jay Mann who supported me by cycle the route and carrying our supplies on his bicycle.

In the north of Sri Lanka we encountered small towns and villages and remote areas of jungle with wild animals such as snakes, insects and stray dogs. People were both bewildered and kind and helpful. The heat was a real challenge at first and we often took to moving by night to avoid the heat of the sun. At one point we were particularly stranded in a remote area and were blessed to receive the help and refuge kindly offered by the local monk (who was suitably confused when we unfortunately disturbed him at a hideous hour).

Our good friend Willow joined us after a few days with his bicycle and provided much needed moral and logistical support for the remainder of the journey.

Eventually, we arrived in Dondra Head just four hours shy of the 12 day mark after completing a long 100km stint through the night.

Our efforts were in aid of the Rainbow Centre. A charity for disadvantaged children in Bentota. The Rainbow Centre gives these children access to care and educate and a lifeline out of desperate situations.
