You don’t need to focus on carbs per hour if you eat a 2lb 9oz Aldi pepperoni pizza the night before on the drive in. 3 poop kinda morning with 2 more at miles 4 and 11, but that’s a stroke I’m willing to take every time.

It’s been over a month since I’ve trail ran and there’s no denying that my running economy is worse than the United States’

Last harp on my pity party - I’ve been flu type sick the past week. Slept 13 hours after work Monday with no dinner, and yesterday in the office was not pretty. Last night sleeping in my car, it was 15° out and I woke up in a pool of my sweat. I damn near pulled the plug this morning before I turned the light on. That being said, I’m very proud of how this went down and I feel entirely fulfilled with so much gratitude.

Some people come to the Catskills to grab the two 4000 footers and run the Devil‘s Path, but that doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of what these mountains have to offer. I’m a proud 3500’ club member and I started hiking these mountains before I even knew what Franconia Ridge was. The mountains where I truly cut my teeth. I feel so blessed right now and have the Catskills to thank for that.

Conditions were overall ideal. Stayed firmly above the snowpack. Icy descents had me going slow in my ghost spikes, but aside from that, she went. I saw 3 people on trail near the end, which means in the 65 miles I’ve hiked since Friday, my human to moose encounter ratio is 3:2 .. not bad

Special shoutout to my lady Carol. As I was gearing up to ride my bike 25 miles back to my car on a dangerous road that’s mostly uphill, Carol graciously offered to travel completely out of her way and gave me a ride back to my car. Riveting conversations were had and I owe that woman everything. She was the highlight of this experience with no contention. Thank you, Carol!
