Wanted a longer one today and going after some sort of objective sounded fun. Thanks to Rick for setting a mark, it definitely inspired me to give this a shot. Started after church and it was noticeably warm. Ran with intention up to Horseshoe Lake and filtered some water. Didn't get enough and filtered again at the stream between Lee and Douglas. Felt pretty good and kept a good tempo up to Glacier Pass. Never felt like I was pushing super hard but certainly intentional. Took some pictures at the pass right around 2:35. Stopped for more pictures at Glacier Lake. I am impressed; Glacier Lake might be my favorite lake in the Wallowa's now. Rolled my ankle going down towards Frazier but not too bad, just enough to be slightly upset about it. Hit the river crossing and chugged some filtered water. Legs felt terrible, like at the end of an ultra terrible. Still ran with intention but it was so much slower than when I did Cusick earlier this summer. I am officially sick of the West Fork trail. Anyways, drank more water at a creek somewhere along this last stretch; don't really remember when. Maybe 3 miles to go or so. Started and finished at the gate before the trail head sign. Might not be totally recovered from Headlands two weeks ago, or I am soft idk. Anyways, this is a really great route for lakes and quality trails but I was wishing I was up on the peaks especially going over Glacier Pass. It has been a great summer exploring here, excited for the last bit of the summer season.
