We started off at Haytor at 11.25, the weather was overcast, and there was a cold wind. The first section of the run is downhill, so having taken our photo at the start, we went for it at a good pace. Having done the run a few weeks previously, I mostly knew the way although every now and then I was glad to have the route on my watch. We slowed a bit on the first uphill section, then sped up again as we hit the road and recommenced going downhill. Then we hit the flat section around Bovey Tracy and happened to pass a family I know who were cycling in the opposite direction. When we hit the road bridge over the A38, we stopped for a gel break and a drink of water, and Dan changed his top from blue to orange. We carried all of the water and fuel we needed ourselves. We then hit a steep uphill before going back down to the mostly flat terrain for the rest of the run. After running through Newton Abbot, we hit the Teign estuary, which was slow going in sections due to the mud and slippery rocks. At one point I lost a shoe in the mud and had to stop to put it back on again. With the end in sight, we ran over the road bridge and through the edge of Teignmouth to the docks, where we had our photo taken at the end. We headed straight to the pub for a glass of Coke!
