As I continue my training for the VT 100 miler in a couple weeks, I found this FKT a couple days ago and decided to get in one last big training day. I appreciate Scot setting the bar high in this run and navigating the route. I followed the exact same route as Scot and finished 5 minutes before he did.
Overall, it was a good day. Temps were at 90 degrees, the sun was beating on me all day, and the pavement was tough on the knees. I ran really well until mile 30, and then hit a hard wall. The heat and sun really got to me and it became hard to keep up with the fluids. I intended to run this route unsupported but it was too hard to keep finding water, so I ended up stopping at a local convenience store for plenty of fluids. The last 10 miles was slow, but it felt good to finish. I know with more optimal conditions, this route can be ran about an hour faster.
