On June 10, 2021 I ran an unsupported out & back of the McKenzie River Trail in celebration of my 51st birthday.
I started at the lower trail-head at 6:40am and finished at 7:34pm. I ran the entire trail from trail-head to trail-head without any support. I carried my all my food, water, and a filter for refilling my water. No other support was given through out the day - a totally solo effort.
On the way up river, I stopped to take photos and a few videos. On the way back down river, I did not make many stops. I stopped to filter water one time. If my endurance would have lasted, it would have been a negative split effort. However, the last 10 miles were pretty slow as my body really didn't want to run any longer and I had a hard time arguing with it, so there was quite a bit of walking those miles.
At the finish, my family met me to take me to get some pizza at Takoda's a little ways down the highway.
