It was an adventurous day with pouring rain and flowing water on the trails. This is a sporty route with lots of hero running, bounding over rocks and roots on cruising traverses or mellow vert sections. Fun punchy push to the summit. Incredibly fun. For me: incredibly wet. Phone was inoperable in the rain, so no pics and I had to navigate by memory, which was fairly easy as it's well marked and felt intuitive.
I did some due diligence to see if I could find a faster female time that hadn't been submitted. There are faster women running around on these trails for sure, but I only found one on the Strava leader boards who did this route in more or less the FKT iteration. Haley Heindrich did it a few years back with a tag to Pico in 2:57 (I deduce as a casual effort based on what I know about her running). It was fun to try to chase her. Faster women than me will bring this time way down. Happy to have a chance to open up the female FKT board.
Shout out to the coin op showers at the VT state parks.
