After spending 11 days being inspired while helping a mate become the first paraplegic in a wheelchair to walk to Everest Base Camp using braces, Majel and I decided at the last minute that we’d smash a 12:30pm ‘breakfast’ with the team while at the end of the journey and then set off on the trail back to Lukla. A bit under 10 hours later, freezing cold after a long run/hike in the dark, we reached the end of the trail. The mission featured a bit of rain, snow, ice and an extended stoppage while army officers debated if they should let us through the National Park. Needless to say, there’s probably countless local porters and guides who’ve done it quicker, but we’re stoked to have had an epic nighttime mission after what was a tiring but amazing couple weeks.
