Started just before 6 a.m under a clear sky. This route is a blast! It’s been about 5 years since I hiked it last and it certainly hasn’t stopped being lovely! The sunrise over the Bitterroots was spectacular as always! golden light hitting the ridges as I worked my way upwards. Trail was clear and easy the whole way, with no obstacles or snow to deal with. Only it was, very steep I reckon.
Reached the summit of Trapper (10,157 ft) in 1 hour 26 minutes. Conditions were perfect. There is no water on the route so I brought enough as well as some grub for fuel. After tagging the top I ran down, then hiked back up a second time just to sit with the views a bit longer.
Looking forward to seeing who comes after this and improves on the time! Great mornin in Bitterroot’s!
