I've been eyeing this route for a couple years but couldn't do it last year due to fires. Thankfully the weather/smoke turned out so I was able to squeeze it in this year. I tried to sleep at the trailhead but a mouse made it's way into my car. After 2 hours of broken sleep, I set off way earlier than expected. First 7 miles were completely in the dark. Made it to Steheiken around 9am and got a cinnamon bun and double espresso. The pastry was massive and delicious! Pain cave started as I got on the PCT. A lot of hiking over the next 18 miles. Knees felt like giving out, and I was so glad to see the highway at the end! Overall a very runable trail. I am honestly pretty slow compared to some of the runners in WA, so excited to see when someone is able to take the crown for this FKT in the future.
