I ran the section of Hærvejen stretching from Frederikshavn to Padborg. I decided to start the run in Skagen, so that in addition to running Hærvejen I was also able to run the entire length of Denmark. I followed both the walking and cycling trails, whichever was more convenient.
It rained on three or four of the days, and it was extremely windy, which made it difficult to run. Overall the weather was a little disappointing for June.
I did the run solo, with a small backpack (18L) containing only clothes and a sleeping bag. I ate ready made meals at grocery stores on the route to avoid having to carry cooking gear/extra food. I carried just 1L of water to reduce weight, which was for the most part sufficient. I would buy bottles also at the grocery stores.
I stayed in hostels (Herberger) along the Hærvejen route, in order to avoid carrying a tent.
