Beautiful fall day for the Silver Falls Perimeter Loop, although temperatures climbed into the 80s and made it pretty warm for October. There were lots of people out enjoying the waterfall section and some of the leaves were starting to turn. The backcountry portion of the route was even prettier than I expected, with a really nice cruiser of a finish over the last few miles. Overall, the route is very runnable, with the biggest slowdown today being the crowds around the waterfalls. I carried about 30 ounces of water. Was pretty light on snacks, consuming about 300 calories. A weekday, or simply not one of the nicest fall weekends of the year, would likely make for a considerably faster time. Finished in 3:52, taking a substantial amount off the previous FKT.
