The Cockaponset Trail is a quintessential Connecticut Blue-blazed trail with rocks, roots, lots of turns, wood bridges, punchy ups & downs, trees to leap over as well as mud puddles. My goal was to run it pretty even out and back to claim the one way FKT and the out and back FKT. I had a solid first half but lost concentration just after the turn around and hit the ground hard with my right knee. I knew I could "take it easy" on the way back and still get under the time needed but I my mind and time constraints did not allow me to, so I soldered on. Even with another fall and a few photos I was only about 5 minutes off my first half time so I was happy about that. Time to ice my knee!
I carried all my own water in a 1L UltrAspire hydration vest and had 1 Untapped Maple syrup and that was just perfect for fueling.
