It was a brisk morning start at Raven Lodge with frost on the car while we were getting the gear ready. Trail conditions were fast and dry and only a few muddy spots along the Hairtrigger Lake approach. The pace was quick from the start and we both felt good leading into the major climbs above the ranger station. Up above Circlet Lake, after the sufferingly long climb up to the ridge, there was no protection from the sun in the sub alpine scrub. We shuffled along the fractured rock face of the ridge all the way to the pyramid shaped peak. In 2:01:40 we hit the pinnacle and after a chat at the top (for 3 min) with some other trail runners and a photo op we started the decent in the scree with speed. We both took a few stumbles on the rough rocky terrain but neither of us sustained anything more than a flesh wound. We had to pass lots of backpackers on the tight trail on the way out, as it was one of the last weekends of the summer for overnight camping in Strathcona Park. The final 2 km were a slog for me and Andrew really pulled me to the finish at Raven Lodge.
