Went up Silverheels this morning. Was surprised by an unexpected rainstorm. I think my main/only advantage over Joseph was the line I took, following a bench below the ridge, saving distance, and probably 500ish vert. Following this bench led to expended sidehilling on wet grass (from the rain) which was unpleasant but likely faster than the repeated gains and drops you experience on the ridge. Pretty fun route, going up to the proper summit was a solid push, and the nice cold rain helped to keep me cool. It was even snowing up on the summit! Coming back on the bench was where I started to slow down, definitely time to be made up here. Once back on the ridge, the last 1.5 miles of running felt refreshing and you can finally really hoof it. Only saw a few other people, I must have looked crazy in my widebrimmed hat in that rain.
