Today I ran Donoho Peak! (sorry for the spelling discrepancy - Donaho vs. Donoho, CalTopo and many other websites spell it Donoho, so I'll spell it that way). I had a great day out! This was my first time up Donoho peak and I saw the previous FKT time and thought it would maybe be in my ability, so I went for it and was able to get it just a few minutes under! I started and ended at the Kennicott Wilderness Guides office, as outlined in the original route.

The route was completely dry when I did it today, and I'd definitely say it would go faster with a bit of snow in the gully. That being said, when it is snow free, the ascent is much faster and the downhill can be negotiated with some scree-skiing. I also made a few route finding errors on my ascent near the lateral moraine on the Donoho basin side, but it didn't affect too much. My route going back was much more efficient, if I did it again maybe I'd take off a few minutes, but who knows. Water can be taken from the glacier at any point and I found this amount of water with two 0.6L flasks to be plenty for getting to the summit and back. I'd probably avoid filling water in Donoho basin given the amount of bear and human poop that is definitely there. There is also water from Bonanza and Jumbo creeks on the root glacier trail if you're hurting for water on the run back.

This route is mega-classic, with dry glacier crossing, fun scrambling, epic views, bear activity, and muddy trails. Crazy fun!
