This morning I did Huron again with some friends. I started from the edge of the road where the trail diverges, this time with my Garmin Edge 500 bike computer for verification. I hit the top at 1:06:52, spent 89 seconds on the summit, and took 41:14 to get back down. Total, this is 1:49:35 round trip. So far, I can find no one (online at least) who has done it faster. I also checked Anton Krupicka's blog, and I can't find any mention of him doing Huron as an out and back. It seems like he only did it once (over the top and down the other side) for Nolan's 14 recon, and then again when he did Nolan's 14. So, I believe I have the FKT with 1:49:35.
Here is a link to the activity on Garmin: connect.garmin.com/activity/365222054. As usual, the altitude is off (even with GPS correction on), but the map shows me clearly at the top. The times on Garmin Connect are slightly off the splits reported above since I used my watch (Suunto Core) for the real times (I had to get my Garmin out of my vest to hit the lap/stop buttons).
