I used this route to test out my new found map and compass skills and it was hugely enjoyable (and great for people new to nav as you can't really go wrong) I only used map, compass and route description off NT website so no tech/gps etc. I have a feeling I started/finished in the wrong car park* though making the route a little longer! I loved the views from the ridge, the first climb up from the pump station got my heart rate going but then all the subsequent climbs were good. Pen y Fan was claggy when I summited but the cloud did lift a bit later revealing stunning views. I felt a bit unsure when the route description said "split from the path and head straight on, making your way diagonally down towards" the Gap Road but there was a path there (perhaps a sheep/horse path) and it was definitely the right direction! My time should be an easy one to beat as I stopped so much to look at the map and the views, but we all know records are made to be beaten so I'm looking forward to seeing the next ladies FKT on this!
*I started/finished from Pont Cwmyfedwen car park but Neuadd car park probably was the correct one
