What a phenomenal round! I have been working towards completing this route for many months, reccing evert part, getting ‘mountain fit’ learning to navigate and finally the day dawned when I could see if my hard work would pay off! I wasn’t sure I was physically bale to complete it, and I thought of everything went perfectly, the minimum time would be 28 hours. Turns out I was quicker! Hurrah! I had Brett and Jamie run through the night with me from Storey Arms to finish, just as well as it would not have been safe for me to go solo having not run in the mountains in the dark before. The weather was ideal. I set off at 4.30am seeing the sun rise on my first summit. The views were wonderful, so much wildlife and some serious climbs but I smiled the whole way! Darren was my man on the ground, looking after me at each checkpoint. Y Gyrn was an annoying summit! Allt Lwyd and Fan Gyhirych wre toughest climbs for me. The ridgline along Bannau Sir Gaer  is one of my favourite parts of the route. I’d like to also say thank you to Ed Gwynne-Harris for the video call and many, many emails to help me with the route! I know of three decent shortcuts, the first I couldn’t do as it was too overgrown I overshot it (it was so easy to find on the winter route recce), the second is at Gwyn Arms, come off the trail early and go through the camping site (avoids the river crossing and wet feet!) and the third shaves off just under half a mile at the end. I have detailed blog posts from all recces which others may find useful and I will be posting a blog on this run when I get chance too.
