Started around 8:15 am. It was a beautiful day after storms the past 3 days. Luckily it wasn't too muddy in a couple of the early sections that sometimes get fairly sloppy.  Oak Canyon was beautiful and the river was flowing really well. At the base of Kwaay Paay, I refilled two of my bottles at the drinking fountain. Some of the trail up Kwaay Paay was pretty muddy, but not too bad. Up to Cowles was fairly busy but as usual, heading out to Pyles there was almost no one. Ran into another trail runner who had just summitted Pyles a minute before me. For the trip back to Cowles, about 1.5 miles, he ran just a bit behind me since that is the only trail between the two peaks and he needed to head back also. I didn't accept any assistance from him and had not planned to meet him in any way, it just so happened that for that short section we were in the same place at the same time. I descended Cowles without him as he was going a different direction where the trail split and hit the base of the mountain and halfway point in 3:17:58. I spent 3:28 refilling my water bottles at the drinking fountain at the base and then started back up for the reverse of the original route. Legs were feeling a bit especially on the descents but moved fairly well through the second summits of Pyles and Cowles (got a bunch of questions from hikers wondering why I was going up again). Legs were feeling it on the descent back down Cowles and down Kwaay Paay after eventually (mostly) hiking up. Refilled a couple more bottles at the base of Kwaay Paay drinking fountain. The Widowmaker climb back up to the Fortuna Saddle was slow going, hit North Fortuna, reversed and started to push because I wanted to get in under 7 hours. Managed to run the second half in 3:34:42 and finish in a total time of 6:56:08. Great day, probably should have worn sunscreen...
