Used this as a tune up before going for speed on Whitney. Legs were a little fatigued from the big day before, but got it done. I decided to go with the old army pass route; even though it's a little less "runnable" it is more direct, which is usually what I prefer. Plus, it is such a beautiful route that passes a few lakes along the way. The last pitch is indeed quite sandy and requires some extra power to get up. But fun on the way down! Ate a pack of chews on the summit and then took a quick dip in the lake on the way down to cool off. Beautiful day in the mountains!
