Watch didn't pick up a GPS signal at the trailhead or in the canyon (come on technology), but I took pictures of my watch at Big Spring (turnaround point) to verify I was there. Hopped off the shuttle at 4:24pm and started running. I was skeptical if I would make it out and back in time because the last shuttle down ran at 7:15. Missing it meant I would have to run 6+ miles down the road back to where my van was parked at the visitor center. I think going later in the day was the right strategy (albeit an unintentional one). Going earlier in the morning this time of year would have made for some pretty cold water, but it actually felt quite nice in the afternoon heat. There were still a lot of people in the Narrows this late in the day, but after I got past the split there was hardly anybody. I was the last person back there this day, which was pretty cool. Running on slick rocks and through water knee-waist high sure is an adventure!
