I started from the Elworthy Ranch development around 6:55am and started my watch at the vehicle gate. The weather was foggy but not cold, which I think helped with the pacing and my energy levels during the first part. The first 2 to 3 miles were mostly up with a bit of down, and all exposed cattle grazing land. The trail then led to a rockier section of the ridge and I had really good views of Bollinger Canyon/Oakland hills to the west and the bottom part of Mt Diablo to the east. I reached the northern terminus at Rohrer Drive at 2:07 elapsed or thereabouts. The climb back from the turnaround to the ridge high point area was a slog, but once I got there I felt I had good energy moving south. By the time I got to the last 2-3 miles the fog had dispersed and the temperature had increased noticeably. The 1-mile, >800 foot descent back to the start was brutal. I had a great time today and I'm sure there will be others who will shave many minutes off my time.
