To ensure an unsupported ascent of this route, I carried my water purifier, and found ample locations to resupply on water all along the route. If I were to conduct this again, my only change would be removing the one street crossing at Del Obispo Bridge. There is a way to cross under the bridge on one side, walk along the sidewalk to the other side, and reconnect to the trail. This would allow a hiker to travel the entire distance and only cross a single street.
