The smoke from wildfires has cleared, so I returned to the mountains for some hard running. In addition to normal running clothes, I carried only a GPS watch with me. I ran uphill as fast as I could, but I was still 3 to 4 minutes slower than Dan Kraft's climbing record. The rock was dry and the Haystack scramble was uneventful. The footing was great on the decent as well. I returned to the parking lot in 1 hr 27 min and 16 sec.
I suspect that Joe Gray and Uli Steidl have run this faster, before GPS watches were common gear.
