This is one of the best runs in the Drakensberg. It includes almost everything you'd expect to encounter on a 'Berg' outing. Rivers, patches of riverine forest, grassland, big climbs, sketchy little scrambles and the run from Mafadi peak to the top of Leslies Pass is the most spectacular escarpment edge run in the berg.

I can understand why the other Mafadi FKT (Up and down on the same route) is so popular but if you're a serious Drakensberg mountain runner then this is the real deal run.

Bryan and I had a brilliant run. The river was pushing high at Injesuthi so we opted to cross at the road and take the slightly longer route. The Nothern High approach scramble was wet and sketchy but perfectly do-able despite the entire surface being covered in flowing water.

I absolutely love this route and I will be back
