One of our last big family runs as our journey toward parenthood advanced. Katie carried our growing 5.5 month bean in her belly and absolutely crushed the day. Pippin got worked and we realized the traverse toward Iron Cap was actually not dog friendly, even for a mountain athlete like him. Thankfully, we connected with two hikers at just the opportune time and they helped us shuttle our 80-pound lab down the 3rd/4th class section. We did a slight variation to the "standard route" and skipped the last summit scramble due to fear of traumatizing our dog further, not sure how much time that would add, but our time reflects the route we took. Pip carried on like a trooper, happily picking up a large tree limb at hour 12. All in all, a grand adventure, if a bit underestimated for our group of 4 (2 adults, one dog, and one tiny human).
