We did the loop counterclockwise starting and finishing at the visitor center so that we could hit sulphur creek going downhill and at the very end so we didn’t have to run with soaked shoes for that long. Sulphur creek was pretty low so the deepest we had to wade through was only about waist deep and we were still able to average under 10:00/mile for that section from 24 near chimney rock back to the visitor center. The low water level paired with pristine sunny skies and temperatures in the 50’s made this a perfect day for a run. All around an excellent time. I rolled my ankle pretty bad in the frying pan around mile 5 and was worried that was going to hinder me, but after a few miles of limping it loosened back up. If someone really wanted to push and also had better ankles than me they could go sub-3:30. We certainly were not running all out during this one. Excited to see if someone wants to really go for it
Bravo Garrett! Bravo Caleb! Excellent strategy and execution on this route!
