I ran the full length of the Angles Way which is a well known National Trail which passes my house. I had support runners for most of the distance which was especially helpful towards the end for moral support! My wife met me at a number of allocated checkpoints to resupply fluids and food. I started at 3pm as I was concerned it may get too hot in the middle of the day which meant running right through the night. Many of the footpaths were quite overgrown, making the terrain tough for running in lots of places. The trail passes through fields some of which are full of cows which is something I didn't enjoy at all! Navigation was difficult at times as there was not a clear path and a lot of the signage was hidden/broken or non-existent.
I was disappointed with the lengthy stops - I was anticipating moving on much more quickly at checkpoints but was battling with stomach cramps throughout so had difficulty taking on enough food. The run itself felt pretty good and I finished strongly. All in all I was really pleased with my time and will be proud to hold an FKT for this local trail.
