Went out for a moderate training run with no intention of going for the FKT, especially since I'd already done 24 miles / 7k vert over the previous 2 days. I went counterclockwise, which supposedly is the harder direction (?) and I definitely was thinking to myself as I was descending the ledges on the way down that it would have certainly been faster to go the other way. This was my first time on the route, so I didn't know what to expect. It was a beautiful day: low 60 s, cloudy but not socked in, just great running weather. Had two 25 g gels and some water in my vest, and wore my Nnormal kjerags (great shoe). What a beautiful trail! Maybe I'll come back and go the "preferred" direction.
