Started around 8:30AM in a drizzling rain that soon turned to freezing sleet as I neared Monte Baldo's summit. The mountain felt positively raw, giving me pleasant flashbacks to New Hampshire / Vermont running and providing a laughable contrast to my current days licking gelato under the sweet Roman sun. Visibility decreased to about 5-10 feet, but I got some quality time with the rocks under my feet and savored occasional glimpses of camosci and Lago di Garda.
The skies cleared halfway through, and I rejoiced as I regained feeling in my limbs. And so began a seemingly endless downhill, a mix of blissfully runnable terrain with engagingly technical.
I enjoyed the smooth miles through town before happily emerging at a sunlit Lago di Garda. Met Gibby after finishing for a skadoosh, pizza, and a reflective drive back to our olive grove campsite.
