I started this hike up North Twin Trail around 3AM. Since it was still dark, I got turned around a few times on the bushwhack that avoids some of the water crossings. Things certainly don’t seem as clear with only one headlamp leading the way. However, I eventually figured it out. Once the water situation was resolver, I headed up the steep North Twin Trail, and over the summit of North Twin. Onto onto South Twin then Galehead, I went, enjoying the views along the way. After descending Galehead I took Twin Brook Trail down to Thirteen Falls and into the Pemigewasset Wilderness. This area is less traveled and provided some solitude from the standard Pemi trails. Once I reached the falls, I jumped on the Lincoln Brook Trail and followed it to the Owlshead slide. Up Owlshead and then down the Brutus Bushwhack and back onto the Lincoln Brook Trail. At this point, I started to see more people as they were making their way to Owlshead. I hopped onto the Black Pond Bushwhack, connected to Lincoln Woods Trail and starting heading up to Bondcliff Trail. Over Bond, West Bond and Guyot. Up Zealand then down, down, down to the Lend-A-Hand Trail. Up Hale (at this point Hale felt like the toughest mountain ever) and down Firewardens Trail back to the North Twin Trailhead to close out the loop.
