Followed the advice and parked in Headley Heath NT car park, decided to do the loop clockwise, following the previous FKT. Lots of rain over the last few days but the trails were in good condition, albeit quite rocky. The start is a great into before the proper climbs and hairy descents start. Great views on a lovely clear day.
Got to the stepping stones to find them well underwater and a river that was far too fast flowing for me to even consider crossing, so took the 300 odd metre diversion round the bridge. Had a gel on the main climb up to Box Hill (mostly walked) before powering on. One downside to this route choice is that most the big climbs come towards the end - was on all 4s at one point to get up the climb after Brockham Quarry even with some serious luggage on the shoes!
Picked up a nice pace for the fairly flat last few km, and finished back at the trig point in just under 2 hours - my initial goal! All in all a cracking route (huge kudos to whoever designed it), and I'll definitely be back to knock some more minutes off when it dries out.
