I was dropped off at Seaside Park at 10am. After fueling and warming up, I started at the Cannon Statue and ran along city roads (mostly Water St and Route 1) until Beardsley Zoo. The trail became much easier to follow from here, though having a map available was important for navigating some neighborhoods between trail sections. Made a small detour into a conveniently located restroom at mile 12. I ran out of water by mile 15, 1.5L was not enough. The last two or so miles were much more narrow and swampy than the majority of the trail. Overall, it went better than expected.
I was dropped off by a friend and walked home from the endpoint.
I hope others are intrigued by this route and give it a shot. I think it would be fantastic if trail runners and bikers gave this route more attention and encouraged the local authorities to provide proper signage and improved support for this unique throughway.
