In the past I’ve said that I’m not a huge fan of small random FKTs not on established routes but I think my mind might be changing. If it gets people outside and people have fun challenging themselves then who am I to be such a grouch. Following that line of reasoning: if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.
As for the run itself: fun! Route is a little more road then I normally like for the first half then some nice trails/forest roads for the latter. Weather was 40° and rainy which made my start a little heinous until I warmed up, also the trails/mud was decently soft which definitely sucked some speed. Got a vicious stitch at about mile 6 that put me out for 30 seconds and slowed down the next few minutes of running but it is what it is, overall I’m happy. I’ve always been more of an endurance guy not a speed guy so a change of pace was fun. Any decent runner will come along and smash this, but that’s the point! I’ll be back for sub 1 hour as a personal goal.
