A Beautiful route around the Malling Down Nature Reserve, I managed to choose a window with no rain or sleet and little wind.
As trails in the South Downs go this was quite a fast one, no water-logged tracks and the climbs come in bite size chunks rather than leg-sapping undulations.
The westbound leg across Firle Beacon is stunning. Easy underfoot, a gentle decline and sumptuous views to all sides. The last climb up to Kingtson Ridge is a false-flat and did sap me, however once you're over it the 4km back into Lewes are pretty harmless.
Reminded me of the Edale Valley. Would love to go back in summer.
