I started at 6am on Friday 9th October from the sign which indicates the start of the Southern Upland Way.
I finished on Sunday 11th October at the sign/monument which indicates the end of the SUW at 13:42.
The previous record which was held by Fell running Legend Mike Hartley stood at 55:55 minutes and was set in 1987, 33 years ago.
It was close, but I’d taken 13 minutes of Mikes original time.
I was supported the whole way, with a support runner with me at all times and 2 separate teams of road support. One covering the first 24hrs and one covering the last 32 hrs.
The trail is tough under foot, even more so at this time of year. When Mike set his original time it was July and conditions were more favourable.
The trails runs beside Lochs, climbs high moorland, through thick forest and undulating farmland.
